I'm Joe Hubbard. I split my time between Hawaii and my family's almond orchard in Orland, California, and I try to have a camera with me everywhere in between.

Most of what you'll find here comes from places I love: birds and wildlife, Hawaii's volcanoes, Alaska, and the farm. I'm still learning, and every trip teaches me something new.

I believe the story is what makes a photo. A picture without context is just a picture, so each gallery comes with a little of the story behind it.

Why "In a Nutshell"? We grow almonds. It seemed fitting.
